Spring Creek Horse Rescue - Spring 2008 Newsletter
Spring is here (or so we’re told). We still have patches of snow under roof lines, and piles that were 20' tall are still melting.
Shorts in the daytime, Carharts in the chilly mornings. Typical Colorado. Spring grass is getting green and teasing the horses, long
lazy naps in the afternoon sunshine (for the horses only!)
As soon as the ground thawed, we started fencing half an acre for our “special needs” boys (Calvin & Cruz, both HYPP).
Thanks to BP for the donation of pipe, Mike for setting the posts, Henry and Joe for all the welding, Keith and Gale for running the
wire. Also, thanks to Dana for donating all the materials for the new barn. Special thanks to Teri for transporting Calvin & Cruz. We
are so lucky to have people like this to give of themselves for the good of the horses.
Besides daily chores and cleaning up from the heavy winter, we set up a booth at the Four Corners Back Country Horsemen tack sale on the
5th, Hell Bent Leather gave an open house/benefit for us on the 19th, Sadie arrived on the 22nd, (thanks Hal!) and Calvin and Cruz
arrived on the 26th.
Bettsie had emergency surgery for her appendix, and is doing fine, but we miss her helping hands and input, she should be back in the
game in a few weeks.
We are very thankful for all our special volunteers and donors; we couldn’t have this beautiful new pasture without your help!
